Hamamelis x intermedia 'Diane' in bloom

Hamamelis x intermedia 'Diane' in bloom

I still have a backlog of photos from the end of last year to work through but, having spotted that our Hamamelis was flowering, could not pass up the opportunity to capture the moment. I had to charge the batteries on my flash first, since the plant grows in the shade of our front garden, but was pleased with the result; given the lighting conditions, the background would probably have come out almost as dark even earlier in the afternoon.

I hope that later this year it will put on some growth and be a larger feature plant by this time next year. At the moment it is still little larger than when we bought it last summer.

  1. That’s something I’ve always wanted to grow. I’m a huge fan of Witch Hazel.
I like the dark background against the ruby red.
