A pox on biodegradable plastic bags. I delved into my desk drawer this morning and not only extracted the folder I wanted but also a snowstorm of plastic flakes from one that had partially degraded.
As more bags get made from this material, it lessens their utility as objects that can be re-used time and time again. I think there are also some concerns that, rather than breaking down entirely, they just pollute the system with small flakes of plastic rather than bigger pieces that are easier to organise.
I’d better check my various stores of bags, and do it somewhere that is easy to clean!
