Yes, it’s a new toy. Frankly, that is probably a better description than “instrument” but it was cheap and readily available (hurrah for Sue Ryder shops and their budget range of instruments!).
Tomorrow Jane and I are going to attend a lunchtime ukulele group with some colleagues from another department and, with this acquisition in tow, we can both have an instrument (I’ll probably take my mandolin, which is about the same size and pitch). If we pursue it, then there will probably be a better uke or two in our future but, even if it turns out to be a one-off, this cheerful little fellow will be handy when I want to pack a bass or guitar on holiday and have run out of room.
