I find the BBC programme Question Time to be worth listening to. Politicians sometimes joined by other figures (I’ve heard musicians like Billy Bragg and even Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden on there at different times). They discuss current affairs with a particular focus on politics and it is informative to hear what they have to say.
As well as listening with the mind, I find myself listening with my gut. Surprisingly I find it very emotionally engaging too. Some things make me glad to hear, hopeful even, while others make me mourn. Hurrah for the ones who seem to reflect values of kindness, mercy and compassion; a shame that most of those aren’t members of the present Government but more often in opposition or in circles outside the heart of the political scene.
