Confession: tonight, while decorating, I listened to the football on the radio. To be fair, I’d listened to the weekend broadcasts of Any Questions and Any Answers first (hurrah for catch-up radio) so I hadn’t entirely abandoned my Radio 4 credentials but I was intrigued to find out how Group B fared in the European tournament. Brilliant would be the adjective for Wales and sufficient would suffice for England but both nations are through to the next round.
It seems that England need to get the hang of scoring like they did against Wales rather than merely dominating the play of the game. Meanwhile, Wales, who haven’t had particular international success for a long time, seem to be on a roll. Potential winners? Who knows… but at least the base coat is on across most of the hall and landing.
