Crimson and Gold

We have three ornamental quince (Chaenomeles x superba ‘Crimson and Gold’) bushes down the far end our garden that are in full bloom at the moment:

I say ‘ornamental’; we do get a reasonable crop of fruits from them, which are too hard and sour to eat but make excellent jam.

Photographing red things is tricky as it is such a vivid colour but, because the flowers were in shade, I think I got away with it. You can see that there is a bit of a blue tinge to parts of the photo which I would often want to adjust but, in this case, I think it adds a degree of visual balance to the image.

Perhaps I’ll come back and experiment in future but, for now, this one can sit unaltered in my 52photos collection.
