So, history shows that the gambit of trying to claim an increased mandate to support negotiations around leaving the EU was less than successful. A lot of people turned up to vote, although more would have been better. Theresa May managed to significantly weaken her position. Jeremy Corbyn didn’t quite achieve victory although Labour did well enough to mark a significant shift in the political landscape.
