The Webden on WordPress

Our Father…

In the discussion group I was at this evening, a question was raised about where the last section of “The Lord’s Prayer” comes from: “For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever”? I thought the answer was the difference between the two source versions in Matthew 6 and Luke 11 but we checked and it looked like I was wrong.

Cue a quick web search and I came across a blog post from Tim LeCroy that helpfully explained it, via the Didache, other biblical material and different manuscript traditions. A little bit more information than I needed tonight but fascinating and a useful reference.
