The Charge of the Light(s)

Yesterday was the ‘fall back’ clock change and, yesterday, it meant an extra hour in bed. Today it meant that getting up reasonably early was easier than normal. Tonight it will probably mean a lot of cyclists taking chances with being under-illuminated as the earlier descent of darkness catches them unawares.

I’ve been thinking about my bike lights more for a week or two and have used them a couple of days, when leaving work a little later than normal on dull days. However, we’re now in the season where I’ll need them every evening on the way home. Over the past few years, I’ve moved away from depending on disposable batteries and my main lights are now USB charged. This is great but it does mean you need to remember to keep them topped up.

I’m ready for this evening’s darkness. If you are going to be out on a bike after about 5pm, what about you?

I’ve just got my first set of USB charged bike lights, though I haven’t needed to use them yet. It won’t be very long though – sometime next week if not this evening, I suspect. For now, I’ll keep my battery lights to hand as a backup.
