Before setting my 3Bird brew, I decided it would be sensible to check how the Inkbird temperature controller and brew belt combination worked on a pot of water. Unfortunately, I filled it up from the hot tap, so it spent most of yesterday gradually dropping to the target temperature. Overnight though it settled down and had been holding pretty steady so I’ve now kicked off the 3Bird brew.
The starting point is a gravity of 1.038 and I’ve rehydrated and pitched the last of my Nottingham yeast. Now to sit and watch the temperature. It should rise with the heat of fermentation before falling back to my baseline of 17.5°C and fermentation should be done by next weekend, when I’ve booked in some time to do the bottling. The wort tastes great so I’m hoping for a good beer to result.
