Petrichor

Petrichor is the name of the beautiful scent we enjoyed last night – cooling rain stirring up an aroma from the parched earth. Petros is Greek for rock and ichor signifies the lifeblood of the gods. Does it represent divine life flowing through the ground? Certainly life-giving moisture after extended drought, as rain fell. Thunderstorms had been predicted but this was quite moderate and sustained for a number of hours.

Back to sunshine today though and probably for a few more days to go.
