Of the tomato seeds I set going at the start of the month, I’ve had generally excellent germination rates. Almost every seed has come up and true leaves are beginning to show … for three of the four varieties. The ‘Moneymaker’ is the exception and I thought it was a complete write-off although I’ve now got a couple of small seedlings and patience might bring a few more.
To be fair, the seed packet was pretty old. I’ve still got some seeds left but, if I’m going to grow it again, I’ll need to save some seeds this year.
Meanwhile, I’ve got plenty of work to do soon (possibly tomorrow), pricking out the stronger seedlings and giving each it’s own pot to carry on growing in. Moneymaker or not, I don’t think I’m going to be short on tomatoes this year.
