Today has not felt much like winter, with temperatures soaring to spring-like double figures, but we are nonetheless on the cusp of the shortest day. Therefore I was pleased to be able to harvest several different crops from the garden:
- Anya potatoes (planted from some tubers that started sprouting in September)
- Nero di Toscana kale
- White beetroot
- Mini peppers (small, green and a bit disappointing but I didn’t see them improving)
- Aubergines (again, not prize winning sizes but probably about as big as they were going to get)
The first four of those got used in our dinner tonight and the others are lined up to do something with tomorrow. Unlike the summer we are not out harvesting every day but it is satisfying to still be getting returns on the work we have put in.
