Arrghhh!!! I turned off the wrong plug last night and left the brewbelt turned on. It was on a timer plug so wasn’t going all night but I had neglected to set that to be off most of the time and so the brew rose to about 25°C overnight. I’m now letting it drop back to the desired range (more like 17-20°C) and not too fast as I don’t want to add further stress to the yeast but there’s a chance that this Feberuby batch will turn out to be this spring’s slug-bait rather than a tasty beer.
I’m too used to having a temperature controller I can set and forget for a few days – just as well I’ve at least got a monitor but perhaps I need to think about adding an alarm circuit too!
