I wonder if my broadband router has been feeling the heat? It refused to let me connect when I got in from work, with either the password I expected or the default password. Yes, I did turn it off and on again… I’m an IT professional after all!
Eventually, after a longer period switched off, it has come back to working with the custom password I expected. I can’t see anything untoward on the router or the ISP so I wonder if it has simply spent too long being too hot? If it isn’t wilting, like the rest of us, it might just be getting old – things aren’t built to last any more.
Key IT lessons: don’t panic, wait a while and have a contingency fund on hand in case you need to buy a replacement.
