Alongside my regular duties at work, there was a certain ‘arts and crafts’ element today. I didn’t get the colouring pencils out but, along with a couple of colleagues, helped get sticky labels added to over 300 new network cables.
The labels are quite neat – a small area that gets printed with three copies of the cable reference number and then a larger, clear part that wraps over several time. The result is easy to read and, because of the wrapping, should stay on a long time. Each cable gets an identical label at each end so, even when switches and other network gear become full, it should be easy to check that both ends are routed where expected.
A little bit of variety is always fun.
