I written once or twice before about exploring Holywell Woods, on the edge of the University campus in Loughborough. It has been a tranquil and also wonderfully litter free place that we’ve wandered on some early mornings. Therefore, we were disappointed this morning to see one of the pathways into the woodland blocked off with a ‘keep out’ notice up and a similar notice on the other side at a more official entrance. We’ll revisit at some point and see if there is any more news – these were crude signs which didn’t give any more information or state authority but we couldn’t have claimed not to have seen them. I wonder if the University, which maintains the woodland for wildlife, found that it was being abused with rubbish and campfires, which we’ve seen at other spots.
With that background, the genesis of today’s watercolour isn’t particularly difficult to figure out!
