Did you take part in the RSPB’s 2021 Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend? We did ours yesterday morning. The conditions were less than ideal — cold and wet — but we had a decent throughput of birds.
Generally our visitors were the regulars — mainly sparrows, a couple of bluetits, a couple of robins and so forth. The biggest excitement was a few minutes before the end, when we saw a greater spotted woodpecker in the tree next door. Yes, next door but it overhangs and the woodpecker was pretty much over our airspace (and definitely crossed it when it headed off to fly over the canal) so we’re counting that one.
