Jane and I took a trip across to Moira Furnace, home of a country park and a museum about the industrial heritage of the area. The main attraction for us was enjoying a bit of folk music from the last afternoon of the Moira Furnace Folk Festival and catching up with friends who also happened to be there.
We weren’t there for long enough to make it worth paying for a day pass, which meant no entry to the sheltered venues. There was enough sound leaking out to listen though, the weather was kind (on a weekend that has included a certain amount of precipitation) and it was a good way to dip a toe in. The full event is spread across multiple venues in the area and includes all sorts of workshops and sessions – definitely one to consider in future years if we can organise not to pack the weekend with too many other things.
