Jane and I spent an hour yesterday afternoon trawling round town trying to find me a black shirt for tomorrow’s gig with the Charnwood Concert Band (at Thorpe Acre Church, 7:30pm – tickets available on the door at £5). I’ve got what I’ve typically called my black shirt but it’s really more of a charcoal grey because of the fine pinstripe lines. Anyway, our attempt failed despite looking in a bunch of clothes shops and charity shops. I looked online but couldn’t find anything I was sure I would like at a reasonable price and with expedited delivery. I even made a brief visit to the ASDA in Shepshed in the evening but it turns out their instore clothing section is tiny – I don’t think I saw any men’s shirts.
This evening, I popped down to the Tesco in town to pick up another lateral flow test kit from the pharmacy. It turns out that they actually have a decent-sized clothing section, bigger than the hypermarket Tesco on the edge of town (which we also tried yesterday). Tesco clothes are not the most exciting but they had precisely the kind of plain, black shirt I was after and at a bargain price as well.
I also picked up a new pair of black trousers as the ones I’ve had for years are just about wearable but now very tight round the midriff. Jane did my measurements yesterday but was rather too generous on the waist front so I’ll have to pop those back tomorrow and go a size or two down!
