Compared to last week’s tree planting, today’s Green Gym was a bit more destructive. I was working with the group at Outwoods on collecting fallen branches and pulling up brambles. The branches went to be shredded, along with a couple of trees that were being professionally taken down near the car park. I had to remind myself that, although it was sad to see those old (and diseased) trees coming down, the group has planted far more new saplings even in just the past month.
All the chippings will provide a better floor surface for some of the outside areas and the reduction of the brambles means they won’t swamp the display of bluebells on the bank by the car park. Pulling up and taking down but all for the good.
