I had an email the other day from the library to say “we’ve missed you”, which I thought was nice but odd since it’s really not that long since I last descended on the shelves for a raid. Then I realised it wasn’t the Leicestershire library service but the Oxfordshire one. Furthermore, it explicitly said, “If you have moved away from Oxfordshire, you can still use your library membership to access many of our online services.” Who am I to argue?
I tend to prefer reading books in dead tree format but this news means I have at least doubled the pool of available titles when I want to dip in electronically or to audio books. I’ve made sure to borrow a couple of things just to keep the account ticking along. Out of town, out of county but not out of range.
