After doing some more work at the allotment, including setting up up an area free of most weeds and stones that will become my first growing bed, I did the first turn of the compost pile I have started amassing:

It has a way to go yet but has definitely started the journey from garden waste to garden gold. I took the opportunity to cut up some longer pieces as I turned the material from one side to the other. This will help speed things up as will introducing plenty of air and mixing the stuff that has started to rot down with material which is fresher.
